Hair Loss Treatment for Women

Non-surgical female hair loss treatments

For women, hair is a vital part of our personal and social identity. The way our hair weaves, curls, shines, and flows is an expression of who we are, that’s why most women take great pride in how their hair looks.

Women who experience hair loss can feel many negative emotions – emptiness or loss of self-worth as well difficulty enjoying activities that were previously enjoyable including sexual life.

While hair loss and baldness are predominately experienced by men, excessive hair loss and thinning also affects many women. Almost 60% of women will experience minor hair loss as they age, and 20% will experience moderate to severe hair loss.

While there is no cure for hair loss, there are safe, effective, non-surgical female hair loss treatments available at CRLAB Australia. Scientifically formulated to promote healthy hair growth, our range of trichology treatments can help combat chronic scalp conditions and hair thinning. The revolutionary CNC hair prosthesis system delivers instant and natural results for people living with full or partial hair loss. Of course, the process begins with a personalised confidential consultation at our clinic in Port Melbourne, where we will determine the cause and extent of your hair loss.

Trichology Treatments for Hair Loss in Women

Scientifically formulated to promote healthy hair growth, our range of trichology treatments can help women combat chronic scalp conditions and hair thinning. If you’re experiencing any level of hair loss, we can help you by first starting your hair loss revival journey with a Tricotest.

This test is a microscopic analysis of both your scalp and hair to help identify common issues which could be impeding your hair growth, such as styling product build-up, dirt, bacteria, fungus and overall poor hair nutrition. After the test, we recommend hair loss products and services specifically designed to target your needs. All of our products are made from natural ingredients including plant stem cells and essential oils to promote healthy hair growth.

Products to treat hair loss

The Hair Loss Prevention range of products work by restoring volume, strength and vitality to hair that is thinning and prone to falling out. Thick, luscious hair is achieved by the number of hairs you have in conjunction with the thickness of each strand.

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes female hair loss?

1. Androgenetic Alopecia – Female pattern hair loss (FPHL)

Female hair loss is much more common than you might think. Androgenetic alopecia, also known as female pattern hair loss (FPHL), is the most widespread type of female hair loss. It affects over 55 per cent of women in Australia. In many cases, the hair loss is only subtle but up to 20 per cent of women will experience moderate to severe hair loss which begins with gradual thinning at the part line, followed by increasing diffuse hair loss radiating from the top of the head.

2. Health & medical conditions

Nutrient deficiencies, thyroid disorders, and some chronic diseases can result in hair loss as a symptom. Physical and/or emotional stress can also result in hair loss.

Cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation, are well-known causes of hair loss. Chemotherapy drugs are powerful medications that rapidly attack growing cancer cells. Unfortunately, these drugs also attack other cells, including those in your hair roots and cause your hair to shed and fall out. While your hair often grows back after undergoing chemotherapy treatment, your hair may temporarily be a different shade or texture.

3. Hormonal issues

Thinning hair often becomes more prominent in women when their hormones fluctuate. Post-pregnancy, changes in prescribed contraception and going through menopause can all cause hair loss and change the consistency of your hair. Menopause is a particularly common cause of female hair loss. During menopause, a woman’s body produces lower levels of estrogen and progesterone. When theses hormones drop, hair grows more slowly and becomes much thinner. A decrease in these hormones also triggers an increase in androgens – a group of male hormones. These hormones are also responsible for shrinking hair follicles which can accelerate the issue.

What other hair loss treatments are available for women?
  • Surgical Hair Transplants – FUE and FUT involves removing hair follicles from one area of the scalp and implanting them to another area. These expensive and invasive procedures can be risky and, in some instances, just don’t work due to donor hair availability.
  • Wigs and Hairpieces – a cheaper, temporary solution, that can be uncomfortable and inconvenient to wear and may not look and feel natural.
  • The CNC System – a non-surgical medical grade scalp and hair prosthetic developed by Cesare Ragazzi Laboratories Italy, that is made using the latest 3D printing and high-quality unprocessed human hair. The CNC gives you complete freedom to live an active life and is sweat, sun and water proof
  • CRLab Trichology Treatments – to nourish and improve the look and feel of virtually all hair types or scalp conditions.
  • Scalp Massage – designed to stimulate and promote hair growth.
  • Hair Lotions and Tonics – such as Minoxidil (Rogaine) are available over the counter at pharmacies or from a dermatologist
  • Hair Loss Tablets – are available by prescription from a dermatologist, and include Finasteride, Sprionolactone, Vuproterone acetate. These can have side-affects and can take years to begin to see the desired results.
